He improves his jazz drum technique with E. Lucchini and he deepens his knowledge about fusion and latin-american rhythms with F. Chirico.
Since 1990 he cooerates permanently with the pianist C. Abbate and the double-bass player C. Nicola, in a Trio called "A.N.F.". This group has won the Second Prize at the International Jazz Musical Contest in 1992.
In 1993, the "A.N.F." Trio, with the cooperation of the saxophonist F. Albano, realizes the CD "Brecce". With this group Raffaele Fontana participates to the Euro Jazz Festival in Ivrea in 1994.
