Luciano Bertolotti saxophone (alto and baritone) player, composer and arranger. He studies instrumental technique and arrangement by himself. He starts his activity in 1968 (Orlando Crotta Orchestra), playing R&B and pop. His first jazz project begins in 1973 with a saxophone trio composed by Orlando Crotta, Carlo Actis Dato and him. He approaches to "free" situations playing in a "pianoless" quartet with Alfredo Ponissi. In the same year he starts a cooperation with a big band (Jazz Studio Orchestra).In the following years he plays with other five big bands (among which we can remember the big band led by Giancarlo Gazzani and the one brought up by the Centro Jazz of Turin). Since 1992 he leads a sextet (two sax., guit., piano, bass and drums), that performes original tracks mainly. The music proposed by Luciano Bertolotti Sestetto is a mix balancing jazz tradition and european contemporaneity. Nowadays, besides to his own sextet, he is the Artistic Director of a big band (Jazz Studio Orchestra) and he is also a permanent member of a quartet that turns to Duke Ellington work, especially to his less known tracks.

Reviews he has partecipated to recently:(1984/1994) Ivrea Festival Jazz; (1993) Festival organized by AMJ- Italian Jazz Musicians Association- for Unicef;(1995) Concert in Venice by AMJ; (1995) "CONTROFESTIVAL", Turin, by AMJ; (1997) "JAZZ IN TOWN", organized by Philip Morris.

Collaborations with: Lee Konitz, Tony Scott, Jacques Pelzer, Enrico Rava, Flavio Boltro, Gianni Basso, Furio Di Castri, Carlo Actis Dato, Romano Mussolini.

Over 500 concerts performed.
